te Pā is a Māori family estate rooted in Marlborough’s Wairau Bar, one of New Zealand’s oldest coastal settlements. The family farms sustainably, drawing on generations of guardianship of land and sea. Their vineyards lie on alluvial soils close to the coast, yielding wines of clarity and poise. The 2023 Oke opens with notes of citrus blossom, white peach, and subtle struck flint. The palate is rich yet taut, combining ripe stone fruit and lemon curd with creamy lees texture and gentle oak spice. A chalky mineral core provides lift and definition, while bright acidity ensures balance. Complex and layered, it finishes long and elegant, highlighting Sauvignon’s capacity for depth and sophistication when handled with restraint and care.
